Complete Sentences

Giggle ~ Giggle... I think my second graders would have a good laugh if I had this on the board Monday morning. Our complete and meaningful sentences have kinda gone to pot since winter break... this just might be a fun way to get our awesome writing mojo back! :)

Nouns, Verbs & Adjectives... Oh, My!

This week in the classroom we will be tackling nouns, verbs, and adjectives during our skills block. I made some mini-anchor charts to introduce/reinforce nouns, verbs, and adjectives... as well as page entries for our interactive reading journals. I also made a noun, verb, and adjective sorting center to put in our centers next week... FUN!!

This activity is differentiated for each of the learning levels in the classroom. For those students just learning how to identify nouns, verbs, and adjectives, the sorting mats include the definitions of what a noun, verb, and adjective are. For those students that are already familiar with nouns, verbs, and adjectives, the sorting mats do not include the definitions of what a noun, verb, and adjective are.

Here is a preview of the noun, verb, and adjective activities I made for this week...

100% PTA Membership!

That's right, mom and dad... Pizza + Party = PIZZA PARTY! We have gone and earned ourselves a pizza party. How, you ask? By reaching 100% PTA membership for our classroom! To say, "Thank You", Crown Point's PTA is giving our class a pizza and ice cream party on Thursday, February 5th during lunch. FUN!!

And, although it it will be the students enjoying pizza and ice cream for this accomplishment, our pizza party would not be possible if it were not for the support of each of you... THANK YOU!! Crown Point Elementary is truly blessed to have such wonderful parents and grandparents.

Thank you so much to all the parents and grandparents who cut box tops and so generously donated them to our class/school... YOU ARE THE BEST!!

Sneezy the Snowman

We did it! This morning was our TV Production debut on the morning broadcast. We had so much fun making our first iMovie and representing second grade on TALL Tales Tuesday.

When I first began my grand adventure to take all our pictures and video clips and make our class video, I asked my 12 year old son to use my iPad to play around with iMovie and see if he could figure it out while I started watching some "iMovie how to" YouTube videos on my Mac. Needless to say, before I could even finish watching the first six minute "how to" video on YouTube, my son had already made three video projects in iMovie! Murphy O'Meyer... kids these days must eat technology for breakfast!!

Well, after two days of clicking on *everything* in iMovie... googling this and that... and watching a zillion "how to" videos on YouTube, my tenacity finally paid off. I think I was actually able to create a video that showcases just how awesomely amazing my second graders truly are. :)

And now... without further adieu...

I hope you enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed making it!! :)
